why i made changes to my front cover

i posted my first draft and got some feedback from others on it they mainly said that i should include more features on it because it was empty except for an arrow at the bottom right hand corner. so i took into account these changes and put them on my second attempt and i feel happy with the way the second attempt came out.

B;log task Four

Semiotics imagery Blog task 4

Semiotics in imagery is a study of images and symbols and finding their hidden meaning using the two types of semiotics denotation seeing something as it is and connotation seeing the hidden meaning of the image.

For example this image shown below is an example of semiotic images.

This image is showing both the denotation and the connotation. The denotation of this image is showing what the image is a picture of a beach.

While the connotation of this image is scene of relaxation, a stress free environment. The connotations of this image are different to everyone depending on how their opinion of the image and what the image shows them. Most people take into account the camera angle of the photo what position is it how much of the image can they see and how they see the image.

Blog Task Three

Semiotics Blog task Three

Semiotics is a way of studying signs and symbols and figuring out the hidden meaning behind the words and symbols. There are two types of semiotics they are denotation and connotation. Denotation is a way describing what you actually see when looking at a word or symbol. Connotation is what the suggested meaning is behind the words.

This magazine shows semiotics by having a relevant masthead which is in bold and called people weekly. It is positioned at the top of the magazine which is the first place most people would look when reading something. There is a red outline around the title, the connotation of the colour red is blood, death, passion etc. which is a relevant colour because the magazine is about 9/11 an event in which a terrorist attack happened 11 years ago.

Blog task two

Genre conventions Blog task 2

Genre conventions are different media topics that are archived into categories. For example family guy is archived into the comedy genre and gold rush is archived into the documentary genre. These genre conventions give the appropriate target audiences an expectation on the theme on what the programme will contain.

Conventions are parts that are linked to the appropriate genre. For example humorous topics will fit into the comedy genre and life situation topics will be in the drama genre. My magazine will fall into the factual genre because the information it provides will inform the target audience.

Blog task one

Defining Target Audience Blog Task 1

The school magazine will be a niched produced product. The primary target audience for the school magazine will be the students of the school because the magazine will contain information that is relevant to the students. The secondary target audience of the school magazine will be the parents of the students because the magazine will also contain information that will also be relevant to the parents. .e.g. the school holiday dates. The magazine will appeal to students in the age range of year nine to year thirteen, of both genders.in biddulph the local population is mainly white British with no ethnic minority. So the magazine will appeal to the appropriate race. The magazine will be relevant to students from both middle and working class families. (Class B, C2, C1 and D)

The language the target audiences will expect to see with be a mixture of formal and informal language which will appeal to both target audiences the formal will be for the parents (secondary target audience also the older students) and the informal language will be for the younger students that might read the magazine. The images in the magazine will be appropriate to the topic advertised in the magazine. The print will give the audiences the right information concerning the school.
